What you'll need:

•rotten wood, soil or leaf litter
•jar
•lamp
•coarse mesh or window screening with holes poked in it
•a funnel or paper to make one
•moist paper towel

What if I wanted to make a Tullgren funnel, can I use the same materials?

I believe so, they are very similar. One is for collecting insects the other for soil dwelling animals.

Your enthusiastic response shows you have a keen interest in the subject of funnel making.

And we must not overlook the Red Funnel Isle of Wight Ferries.

Erskin

I am glad you brought that up, the Red Funnel is highly newsworthy on the island. Stories rival that of the Fat Cat.

Can I put in a word for:

a lightweight polypropylene Buchner funnel?

Or is that too much of a digression?

I suppose what I am asking is:

Is this a funnel free-for-all?

I do believe it runs parallel to the Channel Funnel.

When I've finished with the thistle funnel I'll set about that separating funnel and then the buchner funnel - that is unless you'd prefer to use a gooch crucible.

Wow, you guys are pretty funnel in your suggestions. Unless you're serious, in which case, I put forward a food-funnel. For those who need to eat and go at the same time. Stick the thing to your face, shove your meal in, then do whatever you need while chewing. HANDS-FREE! And has bluetooth. Everything is better with bluetooth.

How about L'entonnoir de gavage' the one they use to force feed geese and ducks in France - Might possibly double for colonic irrigation?

NO LYNTON! I watched a programme on t.v. about that and it is pretty gruesome. Shoving stuff down their necks like that. I eat meat but.................I am not sure WHY I eat it.
