If the Egyptians were to go back to building Pyramids and paid regular wages to people working on them, using the old methods, it could in fact solve many of the Middle Easts problems. A CHALLENGE to you blaggerts complaining about boredom on the Spoof! Write a story about the impact of a decision in Egypt to begin constructin of new Pyramids, Sphinxes and other new creations you come up with. How will it change the world? What ridiculous consequences would there be? Post them in this thread. Mark can we give some contest points to the top five after two weeks?

As I 'attempt' to teach 3-dimensional Geometry to my 9 and ten year olds, can you specify whether these will be 'triangular-based pyramids' or 'square-based pyramids' please.

This is to be taken into consideration when hiring the number of workers needed to complete the pyramids and also deciding on the blueprints to be used, the amount of materials, angles or slopes of 'faces' of said pyramids etc.

Finished dimensions need to be specified also, for obvious reasons.

Also, will they be hollow, in which to house artifiacts of importance - or solid? This will have a direct effect in both the drawing of blueprints and the materials to be ordered.

Thanks. I look forward to hearing from you on this important venture in which I am willing to participate.

They should build food pyramids. What with the food prices going skywards, they can make a decent living when the oil runs out.

And of course, they ought to be square if they are going to be food pyramids; a square meal is what everyone in the world needs.

They can be whatever dimensions YOU want, hollow, virtual, mixed in high tech portals, etc. use your imagination.

Well, if we assume that these pyramids are square-based, with each side of the square base being 200m, then that is a 40,000 sq.m base. Plus, the area of each 'triangle' side, which is 200x145x0.5m = 14,500 sq.m. That gives us a total area of 98,000 sq.m. But, of course, we need the volume, which is 1,933,333.333 cu. m. If one brick is 200 cu. m, then we need 9,666.66667 bricks. Or. 9,667 bricks. There, a perfect pyramid. Damn, I'm good at Maths.

Also, the story was damn good. I gave it a five.

Inhopeless....go to the top of the class. You are so correct - and I didn't even need a calculator to know that.
