I saw this on the BBC, and my immediate reaction was:
"That's a bit weird!" http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-bristol-12220004 I was thinking of the amount of detail about whether or not she ate the pizza, the contents of it and where it came from. The only thing missing that would have confirmed, without doubt, that it was a spoof, was: Rest In Pizza Maybe there's summat I'm missing about this story. |

not sure - the pizza has been at the fore since the bginning and until the autopsy they would have known nothing about the stomach contents.
1. Her keys and purse were found at the flat 2. Who goes out without them? No signs of scuffle 3. Were I her boyfriend I would have reported well before 2 days 4. The boyfriend brother was acting strangely when approached by the press for questions - he seemed not to want to answer about his brother - he hesitated a bit. 5. She bought a pizza and there was no packaging found at the flat I believe Generally in these cases it isomeone close to the victim who is the murderer Wonder if the boyfriend likes pizza? |

I agree Monkey.
I feel that while the information on the pizza is important as it was probably taken by the murderer (unlikely to have been the murder weapon) and therefore, if somebody came home and said "Honey I've got a mozzarella, tomato and pesto pizza from Tesco" they can help police with their enquires. However, while it's important, writing the story based around the pizza looks odd. Normally these stories focus on the murder, not the contents of her shopping bag. They also do not mention what she bought from Bargain Booze, and whether or not she consumed that. Iain |

Sometimes the police use the newsmedia for their own ends whatever they may be

I've written about this too.
The pizza and cider are pivotal to the murder inquiry. Their absence from the alleged crime scene are pretty important I reckon! Jo must have been killed somewhere other than the flat and then her coat, shoes, keys and phone planted inside to help obscure her actual last moments - wherever they were. Makes no sense otherwise. |

OK, let's look at this, then.
The first thing is, I am not familiar with any of the aspects of the case. Therefore, I did not realise that the contents of the aforementioned Italian treat were as important to the investigation as they obviously are. "mozzarella, tomato and pesto pizza from a Tesco Express store." This is crucial, right? If the ingredients had been, say, ham and pineapple, the police enquiries might have gone in another direction? Or nay? "Police said tests concluded Miss Yeates did not consume the pizza she bought" I understand this part. It means that someone else has the pizza. Or had it. That person can help the police investigation immensely! And also the 'ingestigation'. This is getting exciting! "She then visited Bargain Booze before walking to her flat in the Clifton area of the city." Ah, wait... Bargain Booze. What happened there, then? What did she buy, and did she consume it? Does the murderer (or someone who is protecting the murderer) work at Bargain Booze? Have the police searched the Bargain Booze premises for microscopic traces of mozzarella, tomato or pesto? Where is the CCTV footage from the Bargain Booze store? If, after leaving the Bargain Booze store, she walked directly home, did the CCTV footage show her meeting anyone else on the way? Did she pass any bus stops where she might have discarded the half-eaten pizza. Did she lob it in some bushes because it was 'too cheesy'? Or someone's dustbin - not necessarily the correctly-coloured bin? Did she throw it on the floor for some stray dogs, or offer it to a tramp? Does this 'potential tramp' know anything? Not just about the murder, but about anything at all? More questions than answers, I'll admit, but, I think you'll agree, they need answering. I'm going downtown. You know how to reach me if anything comes up. |

So this rules out all the anorexics as murder suspects and all those with gluten/wheat intolerance...now that's a help!!

Do you see what can be achieved with a little analysis, and clever questioning?
The net is tightening, and I feel it will only be a matter of time before we have this case cracked! Was whatever she bought at Bargain Booze found? Was it found about her person? Are there any special discount offers at Bargain Booze this week? Put out an APB. |

So lets search Bristol for
vegetarian, wheat intolerant, dairy loving, non anorexic, not members of alcoholics anonymous....who have bought at some stage a pizza late at night... |

I'm not with you, Sergeant. "Bought pizza late at night"? The murderer may never have bought pizza late at night. What makes you think this is the case here? I've been worried about your deductions of late, Sergeant Mikethelad. Perhaps you need a good, long break. Any more such random errors of judgement like this one, and I'll assign you a desk job! By the way, these crime scene reconstructions are not always a success: http://www.thespoof.com/news/spoof.cfm?headline=s1i58151 Let's hope the same thing doesn't happen here... |

The cctv footage had a time bar on 21:00 so we can deduce the pizza was an evening pizza as opposed to a day pizza.

Quite.
I'm putting you on the lighter side of things for now, Sergeant thelad. Would you please look into whether or not the victim bought a similar pizza, then visited Bargain Booze, and was subsequently murdered at any time in the past. This will help us to establish if there is a pattern here. I have to admit, I've been thinking about this one all night, and yet am no closer to solving its riddle. Curses! Fiddlesticks! Bother! I will redouble my efforts tomorrow in a bid to bring this case to an early conclusion. You have my word on it. Chief Ingestor D. Wooms |

Another thought, we should eliminate from our enquiries all people who have no fingers

That's more like it, thelad, my lad! Now you've got your thinking cap on! Indeed, I always thought that the Force should have introduced Thinking Caps a long time ago.
Have a word with all the known local murderers, and see if they know anything. One of them is bound to have something. Probably a knife. Then bring in all of those guys without fingers. I just want to be absolutely sure about them... |

This thinking cap is really working....as well as eliminating all suspects without fingers (needed to eat the pizza of course) we should eliminate all people in wheelchairs as she had steps at the front of her house.
I was going to eliminate all pizza delivery motorcyclists, but then thought this could be a cunning plot to remove all purchasers of shop bought pizza then raise the prices of delivered pizza by 500%. |

I'm going to read the file again, then the menu, and I hope to turn something up whilst I sleep, waking up with the name of the killer, as all good TV detectives do.
Evening all. |
