When I said I wanted to write for The Spoof, they laughed at me.

They're not laughing now.

Personally, I don't think there's intelligent life on other spoof sites. Why should other spoof sites be any different from this one?

Bob Monkhouse was a genius and perhaps the only Brit who understood what made Americans laugh. He even wrote for Bob Hope. He had perfect timing. Never much liked his acting though. I envied his brain he had the quickest mind and could ad lib jokes for ages by just being given a subject by someone in the audience.

Spot on Lynton, and what pisses me off, is a talent like Mr Monkhouse gets no recognition at all.

There are many people in the entertainment industry that owe their success to him.

A great comedian, I saw him at the Lakeside club in Windsor, he held the audience for over two and a half hours!
Every joke and pun an original.

Who replaces talent like that?

Bob Monkhouse.

A true craftsman. An expert in every aspect of comedy, even the historical development of comedy as an art form. Way back in the 60's he had an exstensive collection of silent film reels. A walking comedy encyclopaedia.

Would have been nice to crack a beer with the man.

Regards

Skoob.

Some nice tributes here.

It's a shame a lot of people just think of him as the cheesy host of The Golden Shot.

Good though that enough of the right people appreciate him.

Yup, and the likes of Barry Took, Marty Feldman, great writers for Round The Horne etc.
