For me, it's Christmas, but I just wondered what the general consensus was for the term applied to the 25th December and its surrounding weeks.

If you've got another term for it, I'd love to hear it

Did you know?

The word "holiday" comes from Old English and originally referred only to special religious days. In modern use, it means any special day of rest or relaxation, as opposed to normal days off work or school. The word derived from the notion of "Holy Day", and gradually evolved to its current form.

Did you also know?

The X in Xmas is a contraction of the Greek word for Christ which starts with the Greek letter Chi (X).

Me mum goes mad if you call it "X-mas" saying that it is the Mass of Christ not the mass of the cross.............

It's Christmas for me. We don't have big family gatherings though..because of there only being my husband, me and our 2 girls living in Canada. Mind you the 'family' is growing...adding 2 boyfriends (not MINE obviously).

When I listen to others here, 'stressing' out over family get togethers etc. I'm glad we don't have to deal with that

Why don't you include your boyfriends LG? Seems a bit mean.

It's fairly innocuous. Nothing rude. Play it to them, they won't get it
