This weather makes you want to hibernate. A nice warm nest seems so inviting.

Failing that, I have a marvellous, heavy, patchwork quilt I inherited from a Dutch uncle.

It's fashioned from various bits and pieces, made by various craftspeople in many styles.

It's my Eclectic Blanket.

Mr. G made a beatiful fire out of bits 'n' pieces and spare wiring he found in his workshop. Most of the bits and pieces and spare wiring he bought from yardsales which were held by our German, Dutch, Belgian, Korean, Canadian and British neighbours...so I suppose you can say that we have an eclectic fire.

My blanket looks like a polar bear. In fact it looks so much like a polar bear, it thinks it is one. It calls itself the antarctic blanket.

This isn't it - but it'll have to do.

I stay warm by stitching lots of words together with a bit of punctuation....it's called a BLANKET PHRASE...

Hell, we could write a best seller at this rate...just put all the funny stuff from the discussion forums together...and hey presto!

My dog, Jezebel, is beautiful.

Jezebel likes to eat lots of different food from 'complete' dry food to tinned food, from fresh meat to mangy bits of leftover left over in the street.

She also likes human food, cat food and she keeps us warm as she eats.

You could say she is an eclectic eater.............

...cold??? Touch off an elephant fart and you'd be toast (Y)

...not to mention fire roasted peppers and chest nuts...

JO would have mentioned this, but he's busy stoking the blaze under his bridge..........

things have been going wrong all day for me...I messed up my beadwork on a lamp I'm making, I lost the cap to my water and it just disappeared, I can't find a decent lamp to go with the shade I am beading after looking at half a dozen stores, and my stories are not doing well today at all.

You could have I'm having an eclectically crappy day...

But hopefully you are WARM Charpa...which is what we are all talking about. Sorry about your beads.

Make a 'beaded blanket' with stolen beads...then you would have a HOT BLANKET

Am I right - or am I right?

I inherited a snake like fish that likes listening to jazz, country and western, hip hop and the Backstreet Boys.

It's my eclectic eel.

It's pretty cold for "shorts" right now. Maybe that's the problem. thanks Morse.

I've put an extra blanket on the bed, turned up the heating pad, made the cat sleep close to my feet, put on the warm jammies and socks. Guess I now have an eclectic reason for getting back into bed and pulling the covers up over my head.

After stepping out of the door this morning, the very first step I took I slipped over on ice, banged my head, broke my flask, damaged my watch, squashed the cat and hurt my pride.

I guess you could say that was an eclectic meter...

Warmed me up a bit, having a good rant about it though.

Thankyou for your solidarity Morse, yes you're fucking right, under my bridge is "brass monkeys" and even they are searching for body warmth.

Hopefully the sight of the ladies behind the red curtains can keep my hands warm? As for the local junks, clochards and my chinese slave, WAN-KIN-DIK, they've all disappeared.

Slipped off the devils to warmer places, the local doss-houses!

See, everybody on this thread is so different, and yet they are all pulling together in international harmony despite all the differences.

As Gary Numan might have said, had he been here:

"Aren't friends eclectic?"

Eclectic indeed....but rfreed's just had a 'flaming go a smurfs' on the 'flame thread' so he's off my Christmas list until he calms down.

Either that or I'll get some of those eclectic eels mentioned above and slip 'em into his bed when he's asleep.....
