A powerful idea communicates some of its strength to him who challenges it.

As long as men are free to ask what they must, free to say what they think, free to think what they will, freedom can never be lost and science can never regress.

Habit is a second nature which prevents us from knowing the first, of which it has neither the cruelties nor the enchantments.

Happiness is beneficial for the body, but it is grief that develops the powers of the mind.

Happiness serves hardly any other purpose than to make unhappiness possible.

If a little dreaming is dangerous, the cure for it is not to dream less but to dream more, to dream all the time.

If only for the sake of elegance, I try to remain morally pure.

In theory one is aware that the earth revolves, but in practice one does not perceive it, the ground upon which one treads seems not to move, and one can live undisturbed. So it is with Time in one's life.

It is not because other people are dead that our affection for them grows faint, it is because we ourselves are dying.

Let us be grateful to people who make us happy, they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom

On a serious note (honestly)

How does this ever happen?

I appreciate that you're not American, but is this really the best alternative to Bush? Or Obama?

I'd be pretty scared. To be honest.

Did Obama screw up the world's economy, or was it Dubya?

Where's the responsibility from the Republicans?

Or is it that Obama is black?

In as much as I see it, given a global recession pioneered by the Dubya administration, he's doing a pretty good job.

At least he inspires confidence among his allies - which is more than the Republicans ever did, or have done.

But then, maybe I'm just not selfish enough.

Just an observation.

Hey, I just had a really good idea - Why don't we all post anti-muslim stories, because out of a billion or more people, 0.000000000000001 % believe that that's a way forward?

Makes sense to me - or am I just being fucking stupid again?

Kindest Regards

Skoob.

Even people from Texas thought Dubya was the topper.

Entertainment and politics can be a murky mix in the US.

She is certainly entertaining.

I knew there was a reason I liked you. I voted for Obama and I honestly wanted to see change. Although I've been just a tad disenchanted with him these last couple of months, and madder than hell at all the vacations when so many are financially hurting, I still think about the alternative, Bush or McCain/Palin and I shiver.

Let's hope Obama gets back to who he was pre-win. He seemed so genuine then.

From our perspective here in the UK - Obama's a good President, and a good man. Okay, his political past in a corrupt system may be questionable; but can anybody show me a truly honourable politician?

How he gets blamed for the recession is beyond me. And the recession was started in the US. Unregulated sub prime mortgage deals and investments were the core element, and all this occurred under a Republican administration.

It wasn't Obama, and likewise, over here, it wasn't Blair and Brown. Yet they carry the can for it all.

It's a bit like blaming the Pope for Attilla The Hun. Bloody stupid really.

Anyway, I don't do politics.

Kindest,

Skoob.

Wise that you don't. Too messy for sure.

Unfortunatley, not all of those are from Palin.

A few years ago, several of those were attributed to Dubya. A few years before that, many of those were attributed to Dan Quayle.

Someone is just recyclying old material and poking fun at Palin's expense.

Actually they are all by Marcel Proust.

I would never poke fun at Sarah Palin's expense.
