Why don't people who get run over, watch for cars coming?

It's the same principle as the giant rock or car rolling straight at you. Instead of taking two steps to the side and watching it roll past, people (in movies and television) turn and run in the opposite direction, following the path of the car/rock.

Why don't people who are falling great distances whilst standing on something just step off said object at the last moment thus safely reaching terra firma.................

Why don't trucks carrying loads of birds (feathery kind) which have trouble getting up a hill, have all the birds leave their perches and flutter in the air, therefore making the truck much lighter.

Why don't they do it and get up the bleeding hill more easily?


I drive myself crazy (crazier) pondering the Why don'ts in life. But it's fun and is quite challenging - in my 'little world' that is.

LG has just been confirmed as "Loony of the week" here, prestigious title, congrats!

Who's going to train the birds? Also, if they were Great Auks, they can't fly, so it wouldn't work for those. I know the Great Auk is extinct, but the point is none the less valid for that technicality.
