I'm new here and I'm sure this is a commonly asked question and may have been covered. If so, please point me at the relevant thread.
Thanks. ![]() |

Welcome aboard,
First off, I'd suggest you read the link as a new writer. It will answer many of your questions: Advice column for new writers As far as points: You get ten points for posting a new article, story, snippet, joke, or diary. You get one point every time it is viewed. You get five points every time it is five starred by a reader. You get four points every time it is four starred by a reader. You get three points every time it is three starred by a reader. You get two points every time it is two starred by a reader. You get one point every time it is one starred by a reader. You get one point every time you rate another writer's work. You get points every time you go through and help Mark with his image tagging (see writer's forum topics for the link). Note: Do not rate your own stuff more than just the first time. It can get writers into trouble and take away points (one idiot rated his own stuff over 1500 times in one day and tried to blame it on coworkers and a shared computer). By the way, you can spend your points to bid on door prizes at the annual Spoof get together this summer (or at the Christmas meeting). I think that the August meeting this year is in Philadelphia. E-mail Mark with your ticket information (closest airport, hotel requirements, etc.). |

Aah, thank you Jalapeno for your rapid response...much appreciated.
Brill, will read what you suggested. I've got a computer that the kids use too, so, from what you say, best tell them not to vote on Dad's stuff too...is that right? Can they vote at school if they want? They don't find their Dad very funny in real life, so it's quite nice that they do when my name's "up in lights" so to speak ![]() Stu

My wife sometimes rates stuff from her school computer (she's a teacher) and my kids occasionally rate from their computers.
If, however, you start getting lots of re-ratings of the same stories from the same computers, it will set off flags with Mark. Tell them to only rate once per story (to keep yourself out of trouble). |

Thanks again Jalapeno...much appreciated advice
![]() As I implied, it's doubtful I'm in any danger...they don't find their Dad funny most of the time anyway... ![]()

My 17 year old's favorite writer is Throckmorton P. Turdblossom, but I don't mind that much.

JP, why don't you set up a link with the Chinese population, a sure fire Nr 1 spot! (actually I think CJ's already done it, but you can always try India) |
