I'm about to write a spoof on small towns.

Today, I made a 200 mile trip, taking a road that I rarely travel on (normally prefering to use the interstate). Because of construction delays, however, I decided to take the backroads and see the sites.

I saw two business that just deserve a story.

One of them was (and I forget the exact name) Johnson's Hotel, Cafe, and Feed Store. The other was Simmons Western Wear, Hair, and Tanning Salon.

I guess they didn't know I was driving through town.

They couldn't have known, if they'd have known or even had a slight suspicion that you were going to be driving through their town they would have had the shop fronts repainted and new names displayed. Something sensible like 'Smiths' or 'M.Jones- General trader.

I would say that every small town within 300 miles of your house is giving the high street a much needed facelift as we speak.

Good for you Jalapenoman, you are the literary equivelant of Zorro, dressed head to toe in black with the modern day mask, sunglasses, you would be spotted by the locals and the legend grows legs.
It would be a chilling sight for any small southern town to have to deal with.

Hot damn Luci May! I just done seen Roy Orbison run a red light

Jman: the madam and I always joke about our favorite neon sign blinking somewhere along a back road in the south:

"Eat, Sleep"....kind of says it all!
