This year I'm dumping the turkey and going for jugged hare and maybe a few roast ducks.

12-bore at the ready!

Our hosts ordered a turducken.

A Turducken- a chicken stuffed into a duck, which is then stuffed into a turkey. It doesn't sound extravagant at all, does it?

And I'm making Bourbon pecan pie- heavy on the bourbon along with beef and cheese enchiladas.

A couple of Cajuns will be there, so we'll likely have BBQ crawdads and Creole style rice and beans.

Grandma may make some chitlins.

But a Big Mac is a "Le Big Mac"

I usually do all the cooking, perhaps a leftover skill from one of those crappy jobs that helped pay for school. Gotta do a Sage Brined Turkey, pork sausage and bread stuffing, taters, real pan scraping gravy and a vegetable or two, like my Uncle Herb. Counting on the bride to do the pie, I can't bake worth a damn. Then, just to be sappy for a moment, I will give thanks for the things that I tend to take for granted all year long. Freedom, opportunity, health, and the joy in reading the stuff from you talented boneheads.

Best to all,
PM

Holy crap, Madame B, with I could come to wherever you're goin'! A southern/Lousiana/Tex-Mex feast. "Y" to the "um!" And the pie.... droolin' I am.

By the by, did you ever hear the Turducken song? Sing it with me: "A chicken in a duck in a turkey's a turducken..... a chicken in a duck in a turkey's a turducken...." Don't know who it's by, but it's a fine little ditty. We sing in in the joint every Thanksgiving, while we eat our creamed chipped turkey and mystery stuffing.

Ah, freedom...

Happy Thanksgiving to All,
Geneva Slim

I'm feeling very envious and hungry.

I've got gravel for dinner.

If I'm lucky, it might have been washed by a passing car splashing puddle water on it.

Mmmmmmmmm, Madame Bitters sure cookin up a tasty feast.

We have a Brit equivalent of your turducken, usually a Christmas Day dish because it's a bit extravagant, called a Royal Roast.

It's a boned turkey stuffed with a boned goose that's been stuffed with a boned capon that's stuffed with a boned duck that's stuffed with a boned pheasant....

Bonin season nearly upon us....

Bangers = UK clunkers!

Hope you have a good one, Morse...
