There is going to be a big debate in the US about health care. I have heard healthcare in the UK and France is good. Any comment are appreciated, even from Monkey woods.

Wonderful, dedicated professional people staffing the vast NHS bureaucracy, and one which imposes restrictions on various aspects of care including types of medication available for treatment (see 'postdcode lottery' stories in UK press), availability of early specialist inpatient care, etc.
NHS treatment has been slammed in the media for its persistent use of mixed sex wards which patients feel is an abomination. Sharing a loo with members of the opposite sex was recently voted patients' top UK bugbear. Having tried both NHS and private UK medical treatment I'd say the 'hotel' aspect of private care is infinitely superior, because you pay for what you get. And that means your own room - and lavatory! - a dedicated private nurse, personalised services and WONDERFUL FOOD/room service. NHS hospital food is generally unfit for human consumption in my experience. NB. It's far easier to sue private sector medicine practitioners so they tend to try harder not to fuck up. |

Are you planning on ending up in hospital, Wirehead?
Cuba has a good record on healthcare. I do wonder if all the wards are full of people dieing from lung disease brought on by cigar smoking? Hospitals should stop being based on military field hospitals and be 'nicer' and 'lovely'. Separated by a flimsy curtain is a bit shit nowadays, isn't it? And it'd be nice if elderly patients were treated with respect for a change and not tied to their beds and given pills to make them sleep on demand too. People are pricks sometimes. On second thoughts - make that all the time. |

Cuba - yes it has an excellent system! There was a Beeb documentary about it some months ago and they reckoned you got 5 star treatment by comparison to European social health schemes. Their dental service was described as good as anything you get privately.
Nearly 30 years ago I worked on the legislation that became the UN's health program via the WHO in Cuba. Cuba's oil earnings were put into a special UN account to pay for the all the system's start up costs, training, physical intrastructure, academic programs, research etc. Castro was made to sign an agreement guaranteeing the high standards of care that the UN demanded and blocking his access to the sovereign oil funds that still pay for 60% of the country's care system. If you're going to have an unexpected abcess, myocardial infarction or general psychotic freakout HAVE IT IN CUBA! |

Tango.....
Hmmm, whoever gets the official Havanna cigar export licence will make a lot of third rate cigar-smokers very happy. That Gitmo place sure would make a cool post-Obama timeshare complex. |

QM: I'll put Ms. Morse on the timeshare project. She was a great TS salesperson when timeshare wasn't a dirty word....sold the hell out of Sanibel Island when the concept was new and the resorts were the nuts...Disco was even Hot then!
I still remember my parents visiting there for a holiday, and have some old 16mm film put to tape showing my grandfather getting off a boat for a holiday....along with the cattle and cranes filled with cargo! I still remember I was a sr. in HS in Ft. Lauderdale and we all cheered when Casto took over....and then he started the executions in the stadium..... See what happens when you get taken in by a Rock Star......but of course, "it couldn't happen here." Morse |

True, the executions weren't that politically correct.
Your footage sounds pretty cool though. |

I have heard the Cuban and Canadian systems were good and the French have one of the best systems in Europe. The WHO rates the US about 40th in the last report I read, We have a responsive system that costs twice as much as other countries. It will be interesting to see what comes out of the US Congress. |

Maybe you should try Central Hospice in downtown Mogadishu, heard the cockroaches participate as anaesthetists! |

Maybe he should? But why? It's good health care if you come out alive and have your underpants still on and don't have to worry about never-ending bills. Health insurance is a fucking scam. A fucking scam, I tells ya! |
