Obama should win this one easily.
Carter was the worst Democratic President, but I thought that he honestly tried and was just not very good (Reagan's deal with the Iranians for the hostage release after he took office didn't help Carter much either). JFK and LBJ were just slick politicians and CLinton was a rabbit. |

Ha. Clinton well ahead at the moment.
David Geffen's dumping of this smug bastard was a bonus. Of course Obama could well come up from the rear so to speak and take the spoils... |

They say a president is as good as his staff...With Obama's cabinet it's a wonder that we'll survive until the next election!
Many are warmed over Clintonistas and the two that totally floor me are the Homeland Security secretary and the head of the CIA. Disasters in the making. DOD Secretary is a pretty solid pick. |

Obama:
A figment of the liberal imagination. The living prophesy of W.C. Fields. A Hollywood fictional actor with less character than Gordon Gecko. Leadership by confusion. Let's have another Czar. Confuses himself with Jesus Christ Super Star/ the play Foreign Policy: Don't blame me, I'm not really an American Economic Policy: Don't blame me, I voted for all that Shit but Bush was the President Homeland Security Policy: this choice should keep the ACLU Happy! Gitmo Releases: 3 bdrm,2 bath ranch, , an Escalade, free healthcare, $1m, a Green Card plus a personal apology coming to YOUR neighborhood. Common Sense? Don't try to confuse me, I went to Harvard Tax Reform: HUH? Tax Cheats: HUH? Best Quote: "And after all these changes are achieved,($3.5 Trillion) I WILL CUT THE DEFICIENT IN HALF WITHIN 4 YEARS! HUH, HUH, HUH?????" Morse |

Golly, it seems to me that any president after Bush would not have a tough act to follow.
Of course, I am a 'bleeding heart" liberal l and proud of the fact. |

I believe that it was Churchill who said that any man in his early 20's who is not a liberal has no heart....but any man by his 40's who is not a conservative has no head.
Damn I wish we had someone like him in our country right now. He was probably the greatest statesman of the 20th century. That said....I still consider myself a moderate, centrist independent who hates the Obamanation and also am proud to say that I have never voted for any man named Bush for any political office (President, Vice President, or Governator). |

I like this version better: If you're not a liberal at twenty you have no heart, if you're not a liberal at forty you have no brain.
Two of three Americans support Obama. We really haven't had a President like Obama since FDR. Bush was an utter and complete failure as a president and that is according to 90 per cent of presidential historians. Obamas's first 100 days have been successful. Regarding the future: And the Zen master says, "We'll see." (Charlie Wilson's War). |

Btw the latest poll only shows 21 per cent of Americans ID themselves as Republicans. See http://www.americablog.com/2009/04/percent-of-americans-calling-themselves.html
There are actually more independents than Republicans. The last Gallup Poll I saw ID 38 per cent of Americans as Democrats. You could conclude that right wing satire is less likely to be successful than left wing. To be edgy, you probably need to be on one side of the aisle. A recent OSU study indicated that conservatives think left wing satire is funny, but they don't really "get it." See http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/04/27/colbert-study-conservativ_n_191899.html This phenomena was recently discussed on the Keith Olbermann show on MSNBC Cable News. |

Two out of three? Like 67% huh? You might want to switch radio channels. Airhead America has it a tad exaggerated, but as with most liberals and Obama supporters truth is a rare commodity. But no hard feelings, if you 'want to feel rosey and warm' with these 'poll figures' bask in the glow. Latest from WSJ: Overall, Rasmussen Reports shows a 56%-43% approval, with a third strongly disapproving of the president's performance. This is a substantial degree of polarization so early in the administration. Mr. Obama has lost virtually all of his Republican support and a good part of his Independent support, and the trend is decidedly negative See the full article at: WSJ ARticle-Obama Falling BTW....Just for giggles GW Bush had higher approval numbers during his first 100 days. Sorry to pull a shade over the glow you're basking under. |

If you had been around last year, you would have read how we all delightfully skewered Bush and Cheney. Now, we have two new crooks in the white house.
QM is an announced Liberal and Democrat who gave a couple of hundred thousand dollars to the Gore campaign. King David is a Democrat. I am an Independent. I'm not sure about Buck's party, but what we all have in common is that we all hated Bush and we all think Bollocks O'Bummer (as QM calls him) is potentially worse. It does not matter if they are Republicans or Democrats, most politicians are diseased, low-life pond scum. Obama and Biden just happen to be as bad (if not potentially worse than) the previous administration. Obama is trying to turn us into the Socialist States of America. It is no wonder that there has been succession talk (and I welcome it as it shows someone has balls and intelligence) in Alaska, Texas, and Montana. Now, stop bending over and taking it up the rear from Obama. Start looking past the platitudes and search for the truth. Two amendments from the bill of rights are in danger right now. |

The WSJ is a right wing rag. I listen to Peggy Noonan give her spiel on the Morning Joe now and then. Rasmussen is one of many polls and it is quoted by the right a little too much. The Gallup, ABC news and CNN polls all show about the same thing. Gallup has a daily poll: 67 per cent approve and 28 per cent disapprove of Obama.
I spent a lot of time in the Armed Forces and used to be conservative. I have watched politics since Eisenhower and have seen few GOP presidents that weren't worth a shit. Bush had to be one of the worst if not the worst. Since I am not psychic like Rush, I can't predict the future. The fist 100 days have been successful. I am a realist who is hoping for the best. And the Zen mater said, "We'll see." The GOP went nowhere with the socialism shtick during the election. Whatever is the opposite of the hosing the Republicans gave us for the last eight years, I'm for it. |

J-Man I'm a Dem right down the line from Harry S Truman. His wife Bess was my godmother and that family has been in my blood so to speak for generations.
We supported the Gore 2000 campaign because the only alternative was so disgusting, criminally corrupt and up organised religion's ass that it made the Ayatollahs look like cute and cuddly liberals. But my opinion of Clinton and Gore has only ever just hovered slightly above that of the Reagan/Bush 1 Administration. IE sick bastards pandering to a Vatican pederastocracy. When I worked in NY for the UN we threw a birthday party for Mikhail Gorbachev's 60th. Worst freaky horrorshow of my life when Clinton and his faghag turned up (ok they were invited) and started blathering on about how the 'Special Relationship' had suckled him with the milk of human kindness. Etc. My spouse has a tolerance level way in way excess of mine and was more sanguine about the sheer bleeding effrontery of having that mobster in the house. Ditto his gorgon 'wife'.....But then he has a laid back and long term view of karmic reprisals whereas I was all for publishing the UN video archives of that fetid Vince Foster business. ....Apart from that it's a relatively normal/usual Saturday night here in London. Who's gonna win the Kentucky Derby |

I am no fan of Bill Clinton. Clinton was centrist and an incrementalist. In the primary I was afraid of Hillary for the same reason.
Frankly I have not seen any president from the South on either side of the aisle that was impressive. Give me someone form the West, the Mid-West or NE. No more freaking southerners. Mind that Bird won the Kentucky Derby. Leonard Block is the owner. |

Queen Mudder: You know how to program. Well done.
Regardless, Obama rocks. It too early after 100 days to say he is the worst or the best. He is certainly better than that mumble f*** Bush. I know a loaded question when I see one. I campaigned for Obama because I was so concerned about the direction the GOP had taken the country. Life is better after Bush. |

It's a well known fact around here that all politicians are corrupt in one way or another, that's one of the main reasons for ridiculing them here, but who puts them there in the first place? Oh its those HG Wells fucking aliens again.
This very Jaggedone certainly doesn't, give me an issue and I'll give you a tissue, and you can wipe my butt with it! I'd rather vote for the KKK (Kool Kids Klub!) |

Yes, but it takes Democrats longer to go to the Dark Side.
Many Republicans come from corporations. The come into government already jaded. Democracy has its problems and one of the problems the US has is that it is an indirect democracy; i.e, the Electoral College. In the US we do not have national plebiscites either. The Founding Fathers were afraid of the electorate. Charles Beard, the historian, write about these issues a long time ago. Of course, what is the alternative? But It is fun to lampoon politicians and political parties. |

It seems we cannot get a US Iranian/American reporter released from Iran! Shades of Jimmy Carter.
What will President Obama do about the coming Venez. Missile Crisis, now that Hugao and the Iranian "nut case" are real buddy buddy? |

I don't think the Russians would put missiles in Venezuela. We would deploy our ABM system if they did.
Iran is more complicated because we undermined the Iraqi government and put the Shah of Iran in power. We also have that "special relationship" with Israel. |

Was said before in 1962........'Nah, Krushchev would never put offensive nuclear missles in Cuba!' John Kennedy (D-MA) ...and again in 1979.....'The Sandinistas? Well, Nicaragua can use a little change anyway!' Jimmy Carter (D-GA) ...and as late as 1994....'Somalia? Our troops will settle things down there in a week or two. Two Blackhawks down? It must be a mistake.' Bill Clinton (D-AR) |

The Russians pulled the missiles from Cuba. The Russians blinked. I have even met the man who discovered the missiles in Cuba. His last name was Hughes as I recall. We removed some old Atlas missile from Turkey, too.
Most Americans are uniformed about Nicaragua. The people who ran the government, the Somozas, were like gangsters. The OAS considered Nicaragua to have one of the worst governments in Latin America. When there was an earthquake in Managua, the US rushed in aid. Anastasio Somoza, who was trained at West Point, sold the supplies to his people. Nicaragua was a revolution waiting to happen. Somoza was one of those right wing dictators Republicans like. Somalia is small stuff compared to the Bush blunder in Iraq. |
