Was Not Was?

Is Not Was?

Crap 80's 'bands'

Preferred the Mel Brooks version where the birds gathered on the climbing frame and then shit all over him.

Montenegro

Loved the scene where they posed for a group photo shot while one guy had a dinner knife sticking our of his forehead and smiled.

One of my fav films is certainly CONTROL, telling the life of the greatest rock/underground frontman to inhabit the planet and a Manchester lad, IAN CURTIS, black and white, superb story, scenarios and sound track, unbeatable!!!

Cop Land - Sylvester Stallone amazingly not bad! Harvey Keitel not surprisingly brilliant.

Montenegro - bizarre.

Control - we're all a bit like that.

Copland - fair point.

Thought Keitel was at his best in 'Mean Streets' 'Taxi Driver' and 'Bad Lieutenant'

Just an opinion...

Bad Lieutenant. I'd forgotten about that one, Skoob! What a film!

I think Tarantino is excellent at getting the best out of actors. He can read them so well, and put them in parts that maybe other directors might not have. De Niro in Jackie Brown, for example. Understated, playing second fiddle to SLJ until the Mall scenes, when he reverts him to type by shooting the girl in the parking lot almost nonchalantly.

Reservoir Dogs too. Michael Madsen is the loon, cuts off cop's ear. Just when you start to wonder what the nutcase is going to do next, he's dead. You think the cop is going to make it out alive after all, then Chris Penn shows up, and shoots the cop as if swatting a fly. It's more of a shock when he does it, than what it would have been if Madsen had done it.

That's how Tarantino is a great thinker.

The way Keitel as Mr Wolfe carries on when called to clean up the unfortunate mistaken killing of the black passenger in the car by Vincent is pure class. When he asks Jimmie to get him a coffee whilst examining the inside of the blood-soaked car, I cringed, but it was genius.

Banlieue 13.

It's like a French 'Die hard' x1000.

There's a cop in it that kills about 30 armed Duncan's in a 90 second sequence and he doesn't even have a gun!

You wouldn't see that on Sesame Street would you?

He's fighting a Sumo wrestler 3 times bigger than him Chinese lad at the moment, I have it paused, I want to see how he'll win.

5 stars for making Jackie Chan look arthritic.

Hey Monks I mentioned Tarantino, Pulp, Reservoir, etc, weeks ago on this thread, got as much response as my Woody Allen bit!

Anybody seen Mike Judge's "Office Space?"

Not the best movie ever, but good - funny with a hint of truth.

I had the TV on a couple of days ago - Judge has a new movie coming out.

Can't remember what it's about.

I recently bought some horror movies. Watched two so far, 1408 and Se7en.

1408 is about a guy who writes books about haunted places. 1408 is a hotel room in a New York hotel; he goes to stay there and weird crap happens.

It's scary in parts, but mostly irritating, and ultimately a disappointment.

Se7en, I'm sure, must be a cult classic. I liked it, but not necessarily enough to watch it again.

Morgan Freeman's character is great, but Brad Pitt's character is annoying.

I dunno if it's supposed to be a scary film, it wasn't really haunting or chilling. Maybe I'm just too uncompassionate, or maybe I didn't immerse myself in it enough.

I also seemed to 'get' a lot of the clues before they did, which was a bit of a let down, a little too obvious if I can get it.

Again, at the end I was disappointed.

I like Kevin Spacey though. He's great in Superman Returns.

I saw Caddyshack II the other day. That was great! Not seen Caddyshack yet, I expect it's better.

That's her - always complaining - she was Welsh not even from Liverpool - anyway. I never speak ill of the dead so I will leave it at that.

I didn't know she was dead.

Mind you, it's been awfully quiet in Liverpool these last few years.

I should have realised.

I saw Seven on a dodgy video a few months after it came out. I couldn't see anything. The characters (they were just smudges on the screen as far as I could see) kept talking about horrible mutilations and stuff but all I could see was brown and green stuff. And the sound of rain.

I watched it again around Christmas this year on television and I was amazed that it still looked the same even on a clear picture!

I agree with Mark - its not scary and I didn't care what happened.

David Fincher was a better music video director that movie director.

Gene Hackman is a great actor. He was a great Lex Luthor. He's good in everything really.

Whats the deal with Bill Murray?
When I was a kid watching Ghostbusters and stuff like that he seemed cool, but re-watching him now makes me want to smack him. He's smug and hateful.

Ahh well, thats enough crap from me for now.
