Very few Spoofers self-promote their own stories..

We Brits tend to frown on such blatant pushiness..

Preferring to wait in the hope that others will discover our jewels and deliver them forth from obscurity...

But yes.. some still self-promote .. a few sad souls ...

If you are referring to the fact that the Jeremy Lin thing went into the news forum, I don't know how that works.

I clicked the link on the story for "discuss this in the forum" to see if it would lead me directly to the forum topics list. It did not.

But when I went back the forum the usual way, I saw that the story was listed and wondered if I was somehow responsible for that.

So if I am responsible for it being there, it was unintended.

Don't take what our esteemed, stocking clad military man says too seriously Danny. He always gets a bit tetchy at this time of the month. He'll be as sweet as a California prune after a few shots of redeye and a rub down with evening primrose oil.

You're actually getting off pretty damn lightly in actual fact Danny as he was on my case right from the get go when I joined up all of 37 years ago. It was only last week that he allowed me to put my hand on his knee ffs!

Two things Ellie - I don't see Desperate Dan being scared off by anyone. And nobody on here is telling anyone what they can or can't do.

OK - That said, and as far as self-promotion goes, I'll be happy to go on agreeing to disagree with you.

Perhaps it's a culture gap. Many Brits are still happy to queue up endlessly for our Yorkshire Pudding mix. And say After youto anyone and everyone. Or give up our seats to women, and doff our bowler hats.

We're not, in the main, a pushy race (even Danton if the truth be told.)

And yes, I've occasionally written something 'pretty' and waited and waited without luck for someone to bring it to the Forum. I've even got very close mates over here who rarely bring attention to my best work in case it's seen as backslapping. So thoroughly English of them. And probably stupid too but there it is. We can be very infuriating at times.

So whereas I don't think there's anything intrinsically wrong about self-promotion, it would be good if Spoofers were quick to recognise each others best work  and NOT just the endless offerings of their favourites...

But as I said at the start, them who want to self-promote, for f**k's sake don't stop because of any rubbish I might say or think. Far be it from little old CJ to stop others smashing their own ball clean out the ball park.
