I voted for dogs, but if you find the right cat, they can be just as good.

I adopted my cat Marcel when he was about 6 weeks old because of his friendly personality. It really took off as he became "socialized" by my dog Little Girl and my girlfriend's dog Kiva.

He was a super friendly and lovable pet, and used to share small game with his friend Ernest, a de-clawed stray he adopted even before we did.

The sounds like a plot from Neighbours.
