A train set.

Still have it.

Bring it out every Christmas.

Woo-woo!

Vic: mine had smoke pellets....neat! Gore would be pissed!

Was it a Lionel?

We had a Lionel steam engine as well that smoked.

My oldest sister got it as a present before I was born because my father wanted it.

I like the smell of a Lionel train transformer in the morning, it smells like Christmas.

My dad bought me a powerdrill for Christmas-- when I was 4. He also bought me a Time Life WWII book collection when I turned 7.

I had my heart set on the Barbie Icecream Shop (which you could actually make icecream in!) but it's the thought that counts.

Used to live (a short distance) away from the Lionel factory in Michigan. My Brother in Law there still has about 200 square feet of mountains and towns and 3 separate track lines with thousands of dollars in antique cars running off one massive circa 1960's transformer. You're right, the smell is distinctive and the sight takes me back immediately to Christmas.. can't wait to load the log car this year.....

I do miss being a kid....

I once met some students from Detroit on a train from Ostend to Cologne.

There was a French guy and a Moroccan guy in the same compartment.

We drank beer and had a laugh.

My American cousins were really pleased when I pronounced their home state name as 'Mishigan' as opposed to 'Mitchigan'

Nice people. They got off the train at Aachen.

Regards

Skoob.
