In answer to your question, no I haven't.

Aware that Mon Dieu plays beach soccer with brother Joel and that he lives in Barcelona because that's where his parents came from.

Any updates appreciated.

Mon Dieu really was Mon Dieu, alongside Denis and Georgie.

And Sir Robert.

Right up there with the very best.

Best Regards JO

Skoob.

Just visited Old Trafford with the family, highlights were certainly, Eric's best moments, shivers down the backbone, goosebumps and a tear!

Mon Dieu was he fucking marvellous!

Also enjoyed the latest statue, George, Lawman and Sir Bob, excellent and a tear to boot!

Shame about the rest of the fans there, couldn't understand a word!

Haven't been back for a while. Checked it out on Google Earth Street View. It's changed a lot. Used to be all ramshackle buildings, scrapyards, dodgy underpasses - now it's the Lowry, the Quays and car dealerships. If you think it's rough now - you should have seen it twenty years ago.

Once drove through Ordsall and Lower Broughton with the wife at about 2am. She's been around a bit - Singapore, Harlem, Miami's Liberty City, Birmingham, Brixton - but she said that Salford is the most intimidating looking place she's ever been.

Lots of moving shadows.

To me it's just home.

"DON'T FOR GOD'S SAKE STOP THE CAR!"

Skoob,

I admitted that Independence Day was a piece of crap and a horrible movie. The script had lots of holes. Will Smith is one of the worst actors ever.

That said, I consider it a guilty pleasure and will state on the record that I enjoyed the film.

My wife and son are big Harry Potter fans. I think that the movies have consistently gotten worse as they have gone along. My wife dragged me to the latest one last Saturday. I felt that we would have been better entertained seeing the new fighting Guinea pigs movie (G-force).

Wasn't having a pop at you in any way by putting that in there. One of my step-daughters gave me the film on video cassette and raved about how brilliant it was.

When I watched it I could do nothing but cringe.

She probably just had the hots for Will Smith.

Speaking of which, the 'I Am Legend' movie was a total desecration of the message conveyed in the book by Richard Matthieson. It was also an unbelievably shit movie with the worst ever cop out ending.

You must agree with me on that!

Skoob,

I never watched "I Am Legend."

In general, I hate remakes (and this was a remake of Heston's "The Omega Man," which I didn't like that much anyway).

It also starred Will Smith, whom I don't find entertaining as an actor.

I never bothered to watch it.

I must admit that I never actually read the book either.

Right, you lot. Here is your homework for this week. I want you all to go away and hire House of Games starring Joe Mantegna and Lindsay Crouse. Watch it, and make notes about the film. Pay careful attention to the psychological aspects contained within, which we shall discuss at length once you have all seen it.

That is all. Short and sweet. That's what granny said.

Before I strangled her.

That's okay J-Man.

It's not a crime.

Watching Pirates Of The Caribbean at the moment with wifey-poo and granddaughter.

Seen it before.

Quality time.

How can a movie with Johnny Depp be considered quality time? Especially a series as bad as this one?

Rent your granddaughter the original Willie Wonka (with Gene Wilder). You will all enjoy it.

She enjoys it. As for the Willie Wonka movie, a mate of mine was IN it!

That's true. He was one of those little people you occasionally write articles about. He played an Oompah Lumpah. He told me that Gene Wilder was a really nice guy. Seems on the last day of filming he took all the cast to a local pub and bought the drinks.

I'm not a fan of Will Smith, action movies, or especially zombie movies. Nevertheless, this was good enough to watch twice. Worth a try.

Here are ten of my favouritest films, in no particular order. Well, they're in some kind of order, but not in order of which I like best, second-best, third-best and so on. Just ten films that I like.

1) House Of Games
2) Rumble Fish
3) Trouble In Mind
4) Blue Velvet
5) Breaker Morant
6) Love And Death
7) Play It Again Sam
Billy Liar
9) The Cruel Sea
10) Goodbye, Mr Chips

Well, that's off the top of my head.

stars Tom Courtenay who is from Hull. I like the way 8 comes out as when you add a bracket!

Have you lot done your homework yet? You lazy little urchins! Get on with it! Anyone who doesn't finish before 9pm Friday (Thai time) will get extra homework next week which will involve having to watch a selection of Tom Cruise films, and you won't like that, will you?

Here's the IMDB link for the movie that MW wants us to watch:

House of Games

I was working for United Artists when this came out and saw it back in 1987. My opinion of it then that it was kind of average/nothing special/would have been a better tv movie than theatrical release.

Do I have to watch it again?

My favorite "Movie" was The Last Waltz about the group The Band's last performance in San Francisco's Filmore West. It was 1978 and the best inside story on rock at the time or any time for that matter.

The guys talk about being on the road for 15 years between the music and they ask a lot of friends to drop by and they do.

I finally got a copy so I can time travel back to the music of the '60's & early '70's.

It appealed to me because of the 'trickery' theme. The seeming ease with which the crooks are able to dupe the eminent psychiatrist also interested me, and the way in which the psychiatrist, Lindsay Crouse, was transformed into a crim herself was masterful.

Maybe my brain is too small.

Not if you don't want to, but you're not helping yourself if I decide to set a test afterwards and you fail through not wanting to do your research properly.

Well, since everyone is rating their personal favorites, here's mine ( not in any order):

Godfather I and II.
Wizard of Oz (mainly because it endures today)
Gone with the Wind (a plain classic of cinematography)
Casablanca
Treasure of the Sierra Madres
Goodfellas
Taxi Driver
Casino
Aliens (first one only)
Bridge on the River Kwai
Lawrence of Arabia
Blow up (196
Stanley Kubrick's Clockwork Orange
& Full Metal Jacket
& 2001 (groundbreaking film)
& Eyes Wide Shut (best part-Nicole Kidman on the toilet)

Apocalypse Now
Saving Private Ryan
Training Day
Traffic
Bargis Tryhol's 'Hard Times'
No Country for Old Men

Gangs Of New York.

Most of which was filmed in Rome.

Love Scorcese's movies.

Also 'Heat' with DeNiro and Pacino, directed by Michael Mann.

Just saying.

And 'Raging Bull.' By the way.

Some bad classics:

Plan 9 From Outer Space

Glenn or Glenda

Green Street Hooligans

The Wild Women Of Wongo

They Saved Hitler's Brain

Bad Taste

Snakes On A Plane

Nightmare On Elm Street

And when I was on the bones of my arse, having split with wifey No1 and living in a Guest House, unemployed - all the lads used to congregate to watch a US daytime soap called 'Santa Barbara' - it was supposed to be serious but it was hysterically funny, with cardboard 'marble fountains' and a 'hit man' who was obviously a woman, and a shapely one at that, who wore what was obviously a fake beard.

Priceless.

We used to cheer like a football crowd when that was on!

Back in the Thatcher era.

Skoob.
