I feel sad for such super spoofers like Arm who feel they are not getting the right exposure here. There is only one solution, keep on plugging away with other subjects and sooner or later they will get their recognition.

I wrote several spoofs this week and they achieved nearly "zilch", but then a couple of others were reasonable hits, keep on plugging away and the rest will fall into place.

Yeah, don't leave. We can be safe in the knowledge that, although our Spoofs may not get many hits, we can always know that ours are more highbrow and more excellent in quality than the rest. We have quality - not quantity.

And before you say Lynton, it's the Easter break. That's why I'm on here during the middle of the day.

I accept the fact that if anybody feels peed off they must make their own decisions, correct MW. Sometimes I and many others here get peed off too and still I enjoy the Spoof so much I wouldn''t jack it in, not yet anyway.

MW, as you well know, many excellent Spoofers have come and gone and personally I don't want to see any of them go. MHO / JO

Don't go arm - you're an inspiration.

I feel exactly the same as you. One answer is to keep doing it and say sod the points - they don't mean success or readers anyway necessarily: it's just a game. You can be top of the chart like Abel - doesn't mean he's a successful writer in the real world, though he may be for all I know.

I'm not getting at Abel, he's great at what he does, I'm just saying it's not the only benchmark, OK?

Let's not lose another top surrealist.

Maybe we 'quirky' types should put each others stuff in the forums more, to encourage each other, and just ignore the chart.

Well, most people know my feelings on the 'Top Writer's Chart', but Arm, if you don't then here goes.

The chart is there if you want to use it, but at the end of the day it is pretty useless. It shows, in the main, the stories that have the most eye grabbing headlines.

I'm currently 25th in the chart, simply due to a Peter Crouch/Abbey Clancy wedding story that got a couple of hundred views on one day this week.

Once the seven days are up I'll drop down into obscurity again, but I don't mind.

I wrote the Crouch / Clancy story not to get points but because I thought it was a funny thing to write. It was a story based on true events but spoofed to include some ridiculous 'quotes' from a footballer and, more crucially, a fictitious date.

It fooled people, and for that I was highly amused.

I don't write much on here anymore, I write more on my blog, but every now and then I write a spoof because it amuses me.
Hopefully some others find some of them amusing too.

What I'm trying to say is, don't say you are going, full stop. Take a break, chill, do other stuff and then just write as and when you want to and because you want to.

I'm not the one saying goodbye cause my stuff aint getting read.............

I haven't done as much writing as others but I love to read other peoples 'stuff' and not just those on the 'top' of the chart.

I usually head to the bottom to find and read 'new' writers works.

I like the Spoof and the 'variety' of people who are here.

I wish I was as talented as some but I find it fun to write when I am 'in the zone'.

True....people have a choice to stay or to go.

I hope Arm stays but it's ultimately his choice.

My my! 3 months months goes by so quickly these days.

It seems like only a month since Arm declared he was leaving again because he didn't feel appreciated.

Maybe Squire Lowton could put a permanent thread in place where everyone can implore him to "not give up", "stick with it" etc, etc.

I have been asked to give a reply to some of the responses on this thread.

First off. Go fuck yourself Fergus. Anytime you would like to insult me to my face, I will give you my address and you can come to my front door. I dare you.

I do not write on here to gain a place on the top ten writers list, I dont give a fuck whos best. I write because I can, and I have the imagination and wit to create ideas that are not dominated by todays headlines.

I came back to the spoof because certain friends asked me to give it another go. But, things have not changed, despite the arguments and fantastic ideas given to Mark, he has decided to ignore them all and continue to let celebrity headlines dominate this site.

I will not waste my time putting my work on a site that does not support me and give that work some daylight.
I will be creating my own site and hope the many talented writers on here will join and be allowed to show thier work without complication and contest. The site will be run by the writers. Not the individual. I have written to Mark several times, with no reply, that, to me, is the measure of the man. Ignorant.
