Keep it green coz we'd have to change too many things if you changed its colour - like songs
'The Green Green Grass of Home', I don't think Tom would like that. Also 'The grass is always greener on the other side..... 'How Green is my Valley" etc. etc. etc. LG |

I agree with Lady G. It would be too complicated. But F Scott Fitzgerald would be quite happy. He did travel a long way to get to that blue lawn.

I disagree.
Grass was never meant to be green. It should have been purple, or orange, or maroon. Songs about green green grass should be outlawed in my opinion. It's just wrong on every level. Regards Skoob. |

I've seen purple grass before. It was quite nice, actually.

I strongly believe that the women of this world should have a choice and a voice on this issue. I believe that women can and should choose the preferred color of their grass, even with the understanding that they might change their minds as to the hue in the future. The choice for color is theirs alone, and it should be. Not influenced by trend, peer pressure, or subliminal advertising tactics, the color choice is a personal choice. I for one, support women's rights on this issue fully. All we ask is that they keep the lawn neatly trimmed.
Thank you, The International Association of Thick Headed Males. |

I'm not allowed to mow the lawn in case I cut the grass too short and it burns in the summer heat! Then it would turn BROWN! We'd be the laughing stock of the neighbourhood.
I'd never be able to show my face on my street until the grass grew back to it's lush green. So - it's easier for Mr. G. to keep the lawns neatly trimmed. I'm not complaining. ![]() LG |

Colour has a 'u'.
I like green. In an article in the Economist on colour, apparently, in the face of coventional knowledge, men and women have the same way of grouping colours. Common knowledge would say that women would group colours based on adjective concepts 'light' 'dark' 'fluffy' etc, whereas men would band colours by... colours and maybe a shade, e.g. 'red' 'dark blue' light blue'. However, this reasearch found out that men and women grouped colours nearly the same way. So, when asking what colour the grass is, ask anyone. The grass on my front garden is a light, cool, green. |

OK, let me try this veiled attempt at bathroom humor again.....
Regardless of the color of your personal lawn, patch of grass, northern thigh shrubbery, it IS best to keep it neatly trimmed. The shape of the patch you ladies choose of course, is purely a personal preference, just don't ask us to perform routine maintenance (we don't mind the maintenance actually) when we have to start the project by pulling out the hedge clippers. Think about it, wait a second, make the connection..... YES! We have a depraved winner. PM Apologies..... |

I have a theory on colours.
We all see them differently. Grass could be many different colours, depending on who's eyes you are looking through. It's in my blog, or a Professor Norton Folgate magazine story, or in my head or somewhere. But it's true, cause you can't prove me wrong............. |

Birbee, I have held that same theory for many years. How the hell DO we know that we are seeing colours the same???
How can it be proven? Also, re our lawn grass. It was stipped off front and back at the end of last summer. Gardens levelled, raked, new top soil. They haven't been back to SOD IT - as they say over here...so when they do they'll have a lot of leaves to rake and weeds to pull. I am so looking forward to seeing GREEN LAWNS again in the not too distant future. ![]() Re: the 'smoking grass' - I've never tried it! Edit: How did the poll results get onto my post? Does that mean I am special? |

I must say, the colour that we pecieve of grass is all totally different. Maybe it shows how we think, how we ARE? Maybe the sensation of colours could undercover the meaning of human?
If I see dark green grass, do I think negatively? If I see light green grass, do I think positively? If my favourite colour is orange, am I a bright person? If my favourite colour is navy blue, am I a dark person? Are colour-blind people more emotionally stable than colour-seeing people? It is sunny in Birmingham, but is the sky light blue or or is whitey-blue? |

Cushy job teachers have. We get Good Friday and Easter Monday off.
Oh. By the way, teachers do NOT get 2 months paid holiday in summer. WE get paid for ten months work and used to get ten 'monthly' cheques....but a while back 'they' decided to spread the same pay over 12 months to make it easier to budget....coz most teachers aren't that good at Math....LOL LG |

Ah, here, the teachers (as they are public sector workers) get Easter day off AND the royal wedding off too. Plus, it's the school holiday, so it doesn't really matter for them.
We get six weeks in summer, two at Easter and xmas, and one week in the middle of each term. The teachers get that PLUS (according my my aunt) four or five weeks paid leave. Not bad for £32,000 a year. Aparently, my American cousin gets all my holidays combined in the summer. THREE MONTHS!? No wonder they have a failing educational system. |

We get 8 weeks off in summer but...as I said - technically unpaid...but spread our salary over ten months...and I'm not complaining. I didn't go upgrading though. You can 'do' courses over here and shoot up the salary scale.
Honest....I just love being in the classroom. The trouble is, other buggers keep coming along with new ideas and messing the whole thing up, confusing US and the kids. Smartboards....very exciting...very expensive and - in my opinion, pretty useless. I can do the same (and have proven it) without all that fancy shmancy stuff. How the hell did WE all learn to read and write etc. before all of this fancy technology came along? We must be generations of geniuses or is it geni-i? LOL LG |

All the classrooms has a smartboard. Let's say, it never runs out of ink, and never out of space. It also doubles-up as a projector, so we can watch DVDs and videos on the screen too. It's pretty fricking nifty.
We never have trouble with behaviour. Well, only if it's a supply teacher we do. |

Yeah but! You could get a DVD player etc. Is it REALLY teaching you anything you couldn't be taught in the 'old fashioned' way.
A supply teacher brought in a Smartboard (we only have 2 in the school at present) and reviewed 'measuring angles' with my Grd. 4 class. They loved the smartboard but when I asked them what they had learned that was 'new'...the consensus was "Nothing because you taught us how to measure angles with our protractors last week." I used paper, pencil and protractors. So I told them they were much smarter than the smartboard. They just like the pretty colours and 'not having to do anything - just be entertained'. I know I sound cynical - that's coz I am. I can think of better ways to spend that money. LG |
