Over the last couple of weeks our precious forums have certainly stagnated.

I understand that ol Skoob has to work and others too, but where are all the other "Supercracks"?

JB, Earl Grey, etc, even Victor is scarce!

The only popular threads are the news ones with everybody posting their Spoofs to be rated (boring!).

The banter and fun are certainly a lot less here and this ol Jaggedone is getting rather worried???

Lets hope things get back to "normal" quickly otherwise I'm gonna getting my knitting needles out!

I've noticed that too JO

Record numbers of stories, but very little forum activity.

It's a pity really. I enjoy the forums.

Maybe we need another troll to liven things up.

On second thoughts, perhaps not.

Regards

Skoob.

When I first joined, roughly a year ago, it wasn't about points, league tables and showing how good one is or not is.

I personally feel the race to the top has driven many of our excellent colleagues into the background, not willing to have a laugh and bit of fun anymore.

Many changes have happened here and there are some colleagues who utilise the SPOOF and the forums to solely enhance their reputations and maybe hope for something else.

WHY, I don't fucking know?

If a colleague finds my work worth a laugh, thinks it's good and puts it on the News threads, great!

There are so many news stories now being entered by colleagues themsleves, well, it defeats the whole object, sorry.

Since I've been here, some participants, tired of the "RATTY POINTS RACE" have stopped.

Some guys here only want their stories to hit Google news, etc, and score, score, score and this adds to the detriment of the forums and the participants here.

Just last weekend I observed how much the General and Writers threads moved, practically zero, and how much the News threads moved, quite substantially!

Sorry Guys, if things don't improve, I'm outta here.

I love the Spoof, I loved the banter, but unfortunately the main interest here is the RATRACE for points!

BTW Skoob congrats on your position, I'm convinced YOU didn't go hunting for it!

Maybe Mark has an opinion on this one, but I do feel personally one should write here just for fun and not to win the CHAMPIONSHIP (which United will do anyway!)

A SORRY / JO

JO

Thanks for the kind words.

Don't leave us though. I'm sure it'll pick up again. I do miss your double act with Earl Grey at teatime though.

Forums only seem to come alive when I'm at work. Maybe they're trying to tell me something...

It doesn't help much either when people like Monkey and Fergus only post in the middle of the night our time.

But we've still got QM and PM and the Doc and the others.

I must admit that I'm only really looking at this tonight to try to get something going.

You never know...

JO,

Not much time for forums. I'm spending most of my hours looking for a job. Forums are secondary right now. I manage to crank out a few stories, and would rather spend time on them than visiting. Sorry.

Skoob, JO, QM:

The jovial banter in the forums does seem to be gone. It has been replaced by political ideology posing as factual information.

If one ventures a counter opinion the trolls shout you down and call you names to characterize your position. They also always desire the last word! So why bother even entering a debate.

The whole idea is not to take serious events, seriously. It was recently pointed out that political opinion should be reserved for the stories and if one desires political debate, then find such a site, but not The Spoof.

I'll second that Philbert.

I find the best way to deal with the preachy types is to take the piss. My Mrs has a saying:

"You can beat the shit out of a fool, but when you stop, they'll still be a fool."

Appropriate at times, I find.

My wife has a saying: "Do it now, or none tonight."

I find it highly motivational...

I think a bunch of us have been busy with Moorview stories and taking a breather after the Dean 'the cunthead' West nonsense that kinda drained alot of us.

I would feel terrible if JO took to the road and left, he's a really great writer and has some funny stuff running around inside his head!

Hang in there JO!

Today, the table topic is pizza! I 've written 3 stories so far .

I'M ALSO BUSY WRITING A MANUSCRIPT BUT STILL HAVE THE TIME FOR A LAUGH IN THE EVENING!

BTW THE MANUSCRIPT IS SERIOUS (SERIOUSLY)

IT TAKES A LOT OF MY HEAD SPACE AND ENERGY BUT I JUST HAVE TO DO IT!

AS MENTIONED I LOVE IT HERE AND I'M NOT GOING TO GIVE IT UP EASY!

BUT WE NEED SOME GUYS HERE WHO SOLELY WANT A LAUGH AND SOME FUN!

JP, SORRY ABOUT YOUR JOB SITUATION, HOPE IT ALL TURNS OUT OK, AND IF ANY OF YOU OTHER GUYS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM, SOLIDARITY.

MAYBE YOU CAN ALL COME AND JOIN ME UNDER THE BRIDGE, GETS COLD IN WINTER, FUCKING ICE BLOCKS FLOATING BY!!!!!!!!

THANKSFOR ALL OF YOUR KIND WORDS BTW!

JO,

Thanks for the well wishes.

I've decided to dedicate today to my spoofing and to my novel (only about 2 chapters to go until it's finished).

Why the day off from the job hunt? It's my birthday, dammit, and I deserve to take it easy!

Yep, 49 years old today, and I still have all my hair (though some of it may have migrated to my butt). I can't say the same about still having all of my teeth or good looks, and I do fart dust on occasion, but I'm still kicking.

JM:

Happy Birthday. A good part of my hair also went south a few years ago! "But,keep on truckin," as they say!

I tell the wife that when we got married there was an old couple that lived at the top of the stairs in our apartment complex. Now we are the old couple.

Good luck on the job hunt.

Happy Birthday J-Man! Next one's the Big 50. I remember one of my gifts was a whole case of imported Old Peculiar usually too high for me.

Also, my best friend had dug my grave out in front of my house with tombstone, name, black flowers and everything. I came in from work that day in a rain and nearly choked it was so funny.

Good job hunting.

J-Man, Happy Birthday old man, hope the job hunting goes well. We're recruiting in Nottinghamshire, but I guess the commute would be a bit long, especially at your age.

JO, stop yer fucking whinging and just write something funny.

Birbee,

Jaggedone HAS just written something funny:

Haiti Charity single not to be released, Rod Stewart claims his hair was not in the right place!

Just check his site. It's hilarious.
