image for CSI:Miami - Season Finale Review Miami is by the sea.

So another season comes to a close on a cliff-hanger.

All the Miami-Dade CSI's - except Lt Horatio Caine - were left incapacitated, lying on the lab floor. What on Earth could have happened?

Do we really care? After all, they'll all no doubt be fine again at the end of the first episode of the next series after Lt Caine's determined investigation.

This has been an odd season, which has seen the introduction of a couple of new characters, some science fiction, and altered production values - notably not relying on a pithy statement by Caine before the dramatic "Won't Get Fooled Again" by the Who kicked in.

Horatio's acting ticks have been toned down a little - the sideways-on interviewing technique, the removal of sunglasses before uttering important lines...

Delko went off to work for the district attorney's office only to be welcomed back, just like that, last night and had an on-off relationship with the delightful southern belle, Calleigh Duquesne. Jessie Cardoza was brought in from the LAPD and Walter Simmons brought a larger presence to the lab.

We've seen Horatio's son shipped off to Afghanistan while the boy's mother is, hopefully, finally out of the picture.

But without fail, the evil-doers have been a satisfyingly, thoroughly despicable bunch, like the guys who killed an amateur astronaut when the oxygen in their tourist space craft was running out, or - in last night's episode - the academic who led the CSI's a merry dance for the sake of research when she knew her antics would delay the investigation.

This is one of the delights of CSI:Miami - the perpetrators rarely have anything redeeming about them. They are callous and money-grubbing, selfish and unconcerned. Lovely! No complications of character for the viewer to fret over.

Long live Horatio Caine and his team! Go on, H - save those guys!

The story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
