image for A 'New Religion' - 'Worzel Gummidge' : Not a cult, but common sense!

Dear old Worzel Gummidge, I do hope I spelled his name correctly (for our American readers 'spelt').

I am so in tune with the Worzel Gummidge syndrome - I don't know whether or not 'syndrome' is the correct word to use here....but it's the best I have at the time of writing. (Writers...please feel free to send me alternative words...if you have time. Edit: 'Theory'?)

Well, I work with a lot of 'Christian' folk who believe every word written in The Bible. (I'll type it with capital letters just to avoid harassment from Christian readers of The Spoof - LOL).

They believe in Life After Death - I believe in the Worzle Gummidge Syndrome.

There was an episode on children's t.v. when the Scarecrow Man was telling Worzel about his intent to dis-assemble Worzel. Worzel was in shock and very scared. I remember the episode well. He told The Scarecrow Man how terrified he was and The Screcrow Man tried to comfort Worzel by saying:

"Worzel! Do you remember what it was like BEFORE you were a scarecrow?"

Worzel replied, quietly, "No Mr. Scarecrow Man. I do not remember what it was like BEFORE I was a scarecrow."

Mr. Scarecrow Man answered, in a quiet comforting tone,

"Well Worzel, that's exactly what it is going to be like when you are NOT a scarecrown anymore."

That is a comfort to this writer and I hope to many of my readers.

The story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
