In the latest in our occasional series on how to save money we look at a clever way to keep cool in this monstrous heatwave that is currently sweeping the country.

All you need for this 'Thrifty Tip' is a bed, a fridge and your hot self.

The best type of bed to have is one from a leading Swedish flat pack furniture supplier, the reason for this will become clear later.

First, remove your quilt or sheets and neatly store them somewhere safe.

Next, take off the mattress and store this somewhere safe.
Propping it against a wall is normally a good plan.

Now, dis-assemble the bed.
This is why having a flat pack bed is handy, after all, you put it together, right?

Transfer all the pieces of your bed to the location of your fridge (usually or at least often, but not necessarily definitely in your kitchen) and re-assemble it inside the aforementioned kitchen appliance.
You may have to move the butter to fit your bed in, especially if it is a King Size.

Next, re-arrange the shelves to allow access and comfortable positioning within the bed within the fridge and settle down to a cool nights sleep.

And the best bit?
You don't need to turn off the light, it switches off automatically when you shut the door.

The story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
