Recently, the US and British governments signed a treaty to protect the final resting place of the Titanic. If there is a more storied ship, I wish someone would tell me about it because I can't think of one myself.

Anyhow, the recent news on the Titanic flooded me with emotion and prompted me to try to find an appropriate way to commemorate that great ship and all the souls that were lost when she went down. In the end, I settled on a poem.

It took a lot of reflection to find the right format and the right words to sum up all of the CONFLICTING and COMPLEX feelings that overwhelm me when I think about the wreck.

I tried SO MANY things before I hit upon one that worked. One that really summed up all of the feelings I have (and I'm sure most people have when confronted with the name TITANIC). I am putting this effort out for the world, please know, this comes from the heart.

There once was a ship called Titanic
It's route was transoceanic
The boat it was nice
Till it hit a hunk of ice
And then the decks were in panic

I hope this moves you as much as it does me.

The story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
