My partner and I recently read with great interest about the Antikythera mechanism and its use on the ancient Greek Isle of Lesbos. Kitten and I are big fans of the archaeology of scientific instruments. In fact we have quite a collection of ancient and antique devices.
We found an imperial wooden hot dog that is believed to have been found inserted in one of Caligula's slave's, er, back door. We have what we think was a section of Cleopatra's ass...p and the other Boleyn's beads, though they look like no rosaries we have ever seen.
Do you think we could bid on the original Antikythera mechanism? It would certainly add some buzz to our present collection. If not do you think Butchie will lend it to us or at least come over and share it? If none of these alternatives are open to us, then please place our names on the waiting list for the "Whose Your Auntie" Antikythera Mechanism Fully Functional Replica... Thanks, Kitten and her girl Spyke
Dear Kitten and Spyke, First let me congratulate you on your impressive collection of artifacts. You should open a Museum of Unnatural History. I have made the requisite inquiries and have some good and some bad news. The bad news is that the original device has been donated to the research labs of Master, Myne Johnson and O.Yeah. The good news is Butchie van Dyke Ph.D is more than willing to join you and Kitten in some oral dialogue and ladies, you are No.69 on the list for the Replica...that's got to be a good omen!
