On Wednesday, 30 January 2008, a strong earthquake, 6.2, struck off the coast of East Timor, eastern end of the Indonesian archipelago, a former Portuguese colony.
After Sukarno, Suharto (1921-2008) was the second President of Indonesia. He held office for 31 years, from 1967 to 1998. His three-decade rule was based on 'Pancasila principles': belief in one supreme God; humanitarianism; nationalism; democracy; and social justice.
He died on January 23, 2008. The headlines in some Moslem countries indicated rejoice over the destruction of another dictator. However, in Indonesia full state funeral service was conducted.
Anyway, Asian leaders often rely on astrologers, mediums, soothsayers and gurus.
Once, before taking a trip abroad, Suharto participated in rituals of slaughtering several water buffalos to bury the head of two buffalos on the eastern tip of Java, and its western edge for safety or security purposes while he was traveling abroad.
Although Suharto visited Mecca as a Moslem, which earned him the title 'Haj', commonly meaning a visitor to kaaba, Mecca, he died as an ordinary Moslem (cf. Constricting Space); therefore, his soul shall dwell in his grave till the dooms day.
If he had chosen the express way, i.e. martyrdom, his soul would have gone direct to Garden of Eden, where a new body would have been given to him for a utopian life: a life replete with all kinds of necessary amenities that a fallen male warrior enjoys. However, during his quick registration period, his soul had a chance to see his future life in hell or heaven.
It seems he has sufficient assurances, during his registration, that he was right in suppressing insurgency in East Timor, or perhaps, to ingratiate himself to God; therefore, he has decided to continue with his fight against East Timor. Consequently, from his Underground Headquarters, Suharto has already started sending seismic tremors to East Timor. May God rest his soul, Amen!
