The year 2016 marks an important time in American politics which will be noted not by the fact that Donald Trump won for president but by the fact the Jeb Bush and Hillary Clinton ran for president.
Despite Jeb's and Hillary's losses, the 2016 election cycle will be considered the time that America embraced the concept of dynastic presidential politics, where the candidacies of a brother and son of two Presidents, and the spouse of another, seemed normal.
The logical result of this embrace will be a successful run in 2024 by Ivanka Trump as President, who will leave her businesses and shadow her father beginning in 2020. Ivanka will succeed her father to a four year term.
Ivanka may eventually switch parties for a second term to create a coalition among working class Republicans and the current Democratic coalition.
Meanwhile, Chelsea Clinton will forego a run, but watch for Michelle Obama, who, with Barack Obama, will make stirring speeches to the masses for much smaller but remarkably accumulative fees, leading the Obamas to great wealth and a chance at their own political dynasty.
Expect a 2024 run by Michelle Obama against Ivanka Trump.
America will look back at this historical time as the Dynastic Era, and the era will end with the 28th Constitutional Amendment, which will provide that the parent, spouse, sibling, child, grandchild, niece or nephew or first cousin of a President cannot qualify to run for President until a 24 year holding period, which will effectively ban political dynasties.
The historical trend will have obviously started with the Bush family, but that dynastic succession was viewed as an anomaly rather than a new practice at the time, having occurred previously only with John Adams and his son, and having been stopped short in the 1960s tragically with the Kennedy family.
The movement to ban family members will be seen as a fringe movement starting with Ivanka's win, but will be accepted by 2032 as it becomes apparent that Presidents are hand picking their successors and providing their family members with pre-packaged branding, a campaign treasure chest, an experienced marketing team, a message, and a loyal following.
The 28th Constitutional Amendment will be a key part of the platform of a young unknown presidential candidate who runs successfully against the notion of a privileged political dynasty.
That young politician may be your son or daughter, as the idea that anyone of can grow up to be President will finally be true.
