After a brief profile re-vamp, it was clear to John McCarthy, 24, that he is a well-respected man. He had received a monstrous 27 likes in two hours when he changed his profile picture a few days ago. It was clear to John that more than just a select few from his friends list (which includes his parents), have a close connection with him.

"I felt very emotional knowing that so many people cared, even though I've met a lot of them on a popular chat-room"

One such person on the list was ex-girlfriend Lisa who mutually agreed to a separation from john two years ago. The relationship was filled with a lot of close contact for a long time, but the love had plateaued around the year one mark. Lisa was very happy to consider john a "close friend" instead. When Lisa broke the news the John, he put on a brave face and agreed to the break up. However, John's heart was torn to shreds and took to Facebook to periodically stalk Lisa in an effort to ease the pain.

"There was a party down in me mates gaff, and luckily someone took a picture of me having the craic before I got shit-faced. Wearing my new primark brand chequered shirt with a savage colour pattern was a brilliant choice, giving me a renewed confidence in myself, something I hadn't felt since before the break-up. Those patterns make me feel like a right sexy lookin' lad".

After the new profile picture went live, Lisa spotted it and immediately gave it a like. John felt remorseful towards a lot of things for a while, but since the image change he has been given a new lease of life. It has also led to him scrapping his decision to permanently terminate his Facebook account.

"He looks so happy in the picture, such a lovely friend. This gives me confidence in him finding a great match in the future", replied Lisa when asked why she "liked" the photo.

Oblivious to how Lisa really feels, John has sunken deeper into the friend zone, contrary to the recent developments.
