it's sitting pretty, right under the Brooklyn Bridge, but nobody knows how it got there.
Speculation is rampant though. Here are a few of the rumors:
-- Billy Joel, The Piano Man, put it there to create publicity for his next concert.
-- The ghost of Liberace is responsible. He's still looking for a candelabra to complete the picture.
-- The piano may be the first piece of a huge orchestra to be gradually assembled. The famed Guy Lombardo may return from the dead to head up a special New Year's Eve concert later this summer.
-- NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio may have inadvertently dropped the piano there as he moved his family from their Brooklyn home to Gracie Mansion, the mayoral residence in Manhattan.
One eerie note. Native New Yorkers in the area claim that, in the middle of the night, they can hear the beautiful strains of "Rhapsody in Blue" coming from the mystery piano in the water.
Non-native New Yorkers complain that they can't hear this at all. For them, the piano under the Brooklyn Bridge is silent. It must be a PRIVATE concert.
Gershwin, after all, was born in Brooklyn!
