The Director of a Psychiatric hospital was carrying out his bi-annual inspection of the hospital and patients with the help of staff. He visited and inspected each room in turn. Each room had two occupants (patients).
The 2nd room he walked into took him a little by surprise (although I can't figure out why because he WAS in a psychiatric hosptial).
One man was sitting reading, his room-mate was clinging on to a cord which was hanging from the ceiling. He was curled up with his feet tucked in.
The Director of the hospital asked the patient who was reading,
"Why is your room-mate clinging from the cord close to the ceiling?"
The patient looked up at the Director and answered,
"Oh him? He thinks he's a bloody lightbulb".
"Oh my God," explained the surprised Director, "Have you tried to get him down?"
"What?" answered the 'reader' with an stunned look on his face.
"I can't read in the freaking dark."
