Here's something sobering for you.

It's not by me, don't worry. The writer is our very own Ralph E. Shaffer.

To be honest I struggled to find many laughs in the article; if anything it was kind of on the dark side.

Maybe The Spoof should have an obituary column for those who need relief from this type of humor.

That’s just one more reason why I don’t read the LA Times.

WTF?

Which type of humor?

It's a serious piece written for somewhere else. I posted it here so that people could see what writers are doing as well as The Spoof.

I feel that is a very worthwhile article.
It is definitely not in the realm of humor, but it is interesting to see that someone who can write humor can also tackle very serious, dark themes successfully.
It is a subject matter that many of us might have to deal with someday.
I have already had to deal with it with my mother who got demetia that led to an unfortunate death.

Yes, I know that this is a site for things that are 'other than serious', but there's no reason why we can't have a look at what writers are doing elsewhere.

I think Ralph would be pleased to know that you thought it worthwhile.

Sorry, still struggling to find many laughs in the article. Yes, I giggled a little and smiled at the poor woman's misfortune. But no real belly laughs.

Yes, it's uncommon for humoristic authors specialised in parodies to be able to write about a serious topic in an appropriate tone, but it really shows Shaffer's talent.
