Trying to be a good citizen, I've attempted, but not been able, to access the 'Pending' stories. When I stick my cursor on each one, trying to select it ... Nada. Is it me?

No, but I think they have a setting that if you have fewer then 50 stories or so before you are allowed to edit, but I could be wrong. PM Mark, just in case I am totally wrong. Well since you've written 166 stories I have no clue why, so PM Mark definitely. LOL

There are often problems with the Approval Center, but they mysteriously seem to clear up on their own.

If they're not underlined, then you won't be able to open them. Try again, or later, and see if that works.

I'm sure Mark can offer a more technical explanation, if you need one.

Yes I'm the same. I can see the stories waiting for approval but can't open them

Click on it. If it gives a 'Sorry...' message, click on it again (to close it), then click on it AGAIN - a third time.

It works for me.

I've just had two stories 'returned' to me that hadn't even been approved yet. Both had almost 50 views and now gone. What do I do? Where do I file for compensation?

Ok mate. Still getting used to the site and my way around!

I've recently come back to the site after a long absence. Why is the editor so picky about who or what gets published? I'm sure the initial period I was involved the editor then seemed to publish every thing. Now, my snippets don't get passed the pending stage. What is policy here?

The ones I see these days are nothing like the ones which Mark and Bureau provided.

I can't answer for what happened in the past, but any submitted from now on should use theirs as a guide.
