ATM stolen from Dungiven filling station

Thieves have used a digger to steal a cash machine from a shop in County Londonderry.

The digger was stolen from a building site further down the road before being driven to the garage.

The owner of the garage said the CCTV footage showed thieves lowering the cash machine into a Citroen Berlingo car which had its roof cut off and drove away, with the machine protruding out of the top of the vehicle.

Seems like a lot of effort for not much reward, and that's before they even have to try and get the money out of the machine. The coordination, acquisition and stealing of the necessary tools, preparation of the car, arranging a safe location to work on the machine, man hours, food and drink.

Why not just sell the stolen tools, keep the digger and get in to landscaping?

Whatever happened to entrepreneurialism?
