Here’s a few examples..

I used to date an electrician but we couldn’t keep the spark in the relationship.

I used to date a dog walker but she was just leading me up the garden path.


I used to date someone on benefits but it just wasn’t working.

I used to date a girl who worked at a sewage plant, but we were just going through the motions.


I used to date an ice-skater, but we were on thin ice, and she ran rings round me.

I used to be a contortionist and dated a fellow contortionist but we were too wrapped up in ourselves. After we split up I came into my own.
