Followers of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, also known as Pastafarians, are no longer welcome in Saudi Arabia after a new law was passed banning them.
It is not known how many people in the deeply religious kingdom worship the noodly deity, but the numbers are thought to be in the hundreds - most of these in the Western ex-pat community. From now on they will have to keep their beliefs secret or they will face a short prison sentence.
A spokesman for the Saudi government explained the new policy, saying that "silly cults" were not welcome in the strict Islamic country. He also challenged the Pastafarians to provide evidence that the Flying Spaghetti Monster actually exists, saying, "I doubt very much that Allah would allow such a creature, and anyway it's not in the Koran so it must be false."
The country has also made it an offence to draw a picture of the Flying Spaghetti Monster.
