A story widely published on the internet today, claiming that award winning fashion designer, John Galliano has been invited as a special guest to perform the opening ceremony at a newly built synagogue in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, has been exposed as a hoax.
Galliano, 50, is currently on trial in Paris, accused of making anti-Semitic remarks to a party of three people at a cafe close to his apartment in Marais, and friends of the designer described the widely circulated story as 'a cruel and vicious hoax.'
Nobody has, as yet, come forward and admitted to writing the hoax article, but an experienced internet Spoof writer poured scorn on the gullible, gossip hungry media for publishing the article in the first place.
The Spoof writer reasoned that a synagogue is unlikely to ever be constructed in strictly Muslim Saudi Arabia, and that even if that were to happen, the last person likely to be invited to open it would be John Galliano.
The fashion designer claimed in court that he couldn't remember trotting out a string of racist, anti Semitic slurs in the incident, although it was caught on a mobile phone.
Why anybody other than those involved in the hedonistic fashion industry would find somebody like John Galliano even remotely interesting remains a mystery.
More as we get it.
