image for German comedians named least funny in poll of 15 countries
Erik Donaudampfschiffahrtsgesellschaftskapitän

A poll by social network site Badoo concluded that German comedians were the least amusing because they could not laugh at themselves. Their humour was often lost in translation.

But German stand-up Henning Wehn said people did not understand his country's love of slapstick, adding: "An old codger falling over or a cake in the face is always funny - even in a famine."

Badoo published a number of jokes which the Germans, we are told, fall about laughing at.

Here is a selection of some of the better jokes:

Knock, knock.
Who's there?
The police. I'm afraid there's been an accident. Your husband is in hospital.

A man walks into a pub. He is an alcoholic whose drink problem is destroying his family.

A Blonde and a Brunette jump off a tall building at the same time. Who hits the ground first? Both of them hit the ground at the same time. Hair colour doesn't affect acceleration due to gravity.

"Doctor Doctor! I think I've broken my leg!"
"Yes, I'm afraid it's a terrible break, the chances are you'll never walk again."

The Spoof's rival German site, 'Das Schpoof', rejects Badoo's findings. Spokespersonnage Erik Donaudampfschiffahrtsgesellschaftskapitän says, "German humour is almost always lost in translation (The Spoof translates). For example I have Googled "german humour" and the answer was 'No jokes found matching your query'. This is even funny, no?"

No Erik, trust us. No it isn't.

Even the website itself has a sense of humor
