image for Courgettes are the new Cucumbers
Cucumbers or courgettes>? You choose!

As a result of the recent deaths caused by tainted cucumbers, Health Organizations world-wide are encouraging people to switch to eating courgettes.

This, sometimes ignored vegetable, is a great substitute in any recipe calling for cucumbers.

Courgettes may be shorter and a little fatter than the normal cucumber but can be successfully used in most recipes when trying to avoid cucumbers, which we ought to be doing until the cucumber gets the 'all clear'.

Cucumber farmers are obviously upset at the recent news and fatalities linked to their cucumbers and are extremely concerned that, even when cucumbers are given a 'clean bill of health' it will be TOO LATE to save their businesses.

Cucumber farmers are afraid that once customers have tasted the sweet courgettes, they will NOT return to purchasing cucumbers.

Time will tell!
