image for It's Palin v Palin In Last-Minute Injunction Against The BBC
Palin (Michael) in one of his many humourous TV roles

Monty Python star and all round (the World) good egg, Michael Palin, has taken out an injunction at the High Court this afternoon, forbidding the BBC to broadcast an already in-the-can episode of the popular family tree show, Who do you think you are?

The exact reason for the legal move is not clear at the moment, but the popular funnyman's action is believed to centre round rumours suggesting research that was undertaken for the programme, shows him to be related to American nut-job, Sarah Palin. They're third-cousins on his Father's side by all accounts.

Palin's (Michael that is) longtime pal, John Cleese, was said to be shocked by the news and speaking to the BBC's Andrew Marr on The One Show said, "If this ever came out officially I think we'd see Michael retiring from public life, never to be seen again I shouldn't wonder. I mean can you imagine the sense of shame that he'd feel. God it would be shocking."

Meanwhile Sarah Palin was reported to be flattered to find out that she has genuine show business credentials. When she was approached earlier today, during a meet and greet fundraiser for the Tea Party being held in the grounds of a lethal injection manufacturing plant, she commented, "Gee that's real neat. I love anything to do with England. Hey England, like that's the capital of France...right?"

The BBC is considering whether to contest the injunction or to side with Palin (Michael) and simply broadcast a repeat of Top Gear in the same time slot.

Make Duff's day - give this story five thumbs-up (there's no need to register, the thumbs are just down there!)
