US military insiders have today given indications that the Navy SEAL officer, responsible for the death of Osama bin Laden at the weekend, had actually been working undercover at the safe-house in Abbottabad, Pakistan, for some months beforehand.
The officer, who cannot be named for security reasons, is said to be suffering from post-traumatic shock syndrome and is currently undergoing psychiatric counselling sessions at a secret location within the US.
The Navy SEAL had infiltrated the three-storey luxury mansion, just 50km north of Islamabad, and was actually living in the children's zoo complex which included a variety of small animals, kept for the amusement of local children.
The US administration now insists that their operative murdered Osama bin Laden in an act of self defence.
'Bin Laden approached the Navy SEAL aggressively, armed with a heavy club', said a spokesman earlier today.'His parents had both been beaten to death with a similar weapon and our operative acted in accordance with permitted protocol, believing his life to be in jeopardy. We hope that this will put and end to further speculation!'
