The trial of Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, scheduled for April 1st, has been suspended indefinitely following the news that the Premier had suffered a nervous breakdown and had been admitted to a secure mental health facility.
Berlusconi, who is facing charges of having sex with a minor as well as fraud and corruption, collapsed in the Italian parliament after complaining of feeling unwell.
Italian government sources indicate that the under pressure politician had become increasingly concerned about the devastation caused by the Japanese earthquake and tsunami. Reports indicate that the Premier had been having problems sleeping and was becoming obsessed with events as they unfolded in the Far East.
Berlusconi's personal secretary Giovanni Mendelosi would not confirm or deny that his boss's mental health had been most affected by the news that Fujisomo Industries, the leading producer of Grecian 2000 and other hair products, had been razed to the ground by the earthquake and then totally washed away by the resultant tsunami.
