A woman in the Northern Brazilian town of Parauapebas was shocked to find 5 foot alligator hiding behind her living room sofa.
The housewife was apparently only alerted to the presence of the reptile by her son, who was patting its head shouting "Good crocodile, good crocodile".
Amazingly enough, the woman was able to grab her son and escape from the house without either suffering any injuries.
Local firefighters were then called and they succeeded in trapping the animal.
Fire chief Emilio Estaban commented "The mother and son were fortunate to get away unscathed. They were very lucky that the reptile was not hungry. Even luckier that it wasn't suffering from a headache".
Although state police would not speculate on how the alligator might have found its way indoors, but an unnamed source speculated that "it might have something to do with the deer flavoured spray that had been applied to the couch".
