Vatican City - Anti-government rioting has now hit Vatican City, following uprisings in Yemen, Algeria and Egypt. Dozens of rioters have taken to the streets of this tiny country, demanding reforms from Pope Benedict XVI. More unrest is expected today.
Protesters are annoyed about the pope's new red socks, and they want the world to know.
"The pope should wear green socks, not red socks!" said dissident leader Father Gill Schmuck. "What sort of pontiff wears red socks! Maybe the Holy Father is a secret Communist!" said the 92-year old rebel leader.
Vatican sources say almost 28 rioters swarmed through St. Peter's Square last night. The rioters carried green socks and some even yelled bad words. A few pigeons were scared from their nests, but no other damage was reported. The average age of the 'rioters' was 95.
Pope Benedict XVI says that the rioters are all possessed by the devil, and he will wear whatever colour socks he wants. He has ordered the Swiss Guard to shoot the protesters with holy water pistols if they dare to return.
