Instead of filing their forms in triplicate in double-quick time and speeding up pending cases against criminals, decade-long requests from honest citizens, and such like, the Maharashtra Gazetted Officers Federation has called for its members to "shun work" on January 27 to protest the murder of Malegaon additional district collector Yashwant Sonawane by the petrol and diesel mafia in Manmad.
The federation has assured a massive and "fierce" protest all over the Indian State of Maharashtra. 80,000 officers have threatened to do nothing.
Analysts across the spectrum have condemned this act.
Former Bank Manager AVX Shenoy had this to say, "Sonawane was killed while on duty. To mark his martyrdom by not working is an insult not only to his memory but also to India. It's almost like these jerks needed an excuse to not work. "
Thabish, missile defense analyst and serial 8th-grader also condemned this ridiculous homage to a man who looks like he was the only one with the courage to take on a billion-dollar mafia. "I'm really not sure that anyone will notice if all the gazetted officers shun work all day. Unreliable but funny sources of mine have implied that with notable exceptions, this what most of them do on a regular basis, i.e. shun work."
In a rare moment of expressing an opinion instead of merely representing and mocking the facts this writer whole heartedly condemns the pseudo-communist approach of the government. The mafia that the late Mr. Sonawane was trying to stop is directly or indirectly responsible for billions of dollars worth of oil leaving the country. We're about to witness another hike in the price of fuel because there's less fuel. It does not take a genius to figure out that we have to stop the dweebs leaking the fuel to someone else.
"I would like to see all 80,000 of these guys spend a week and kick some petrol mafia ass. That'll be a like a mob finally doing something useful," said AVX Shenoy, one couldn't agree more.
