The only plane George will be in charge of

We've all been there after having one or two drinks, walking into the kitchen only to stop and think:' what did I come in here for? Was it to make some toast after feeling a little peckish, pour myself another glass of Merlot or fly to New York?'

I know I am guilty of harmless amnesia, but spare a thought for poor old George la Perle who forgot where he was flying to and he was the Captain!

George 49, hadn't been on a stag weekend or a late night bender, no George was simply going about his normal day job as Captain of a 747 jet carrying passengers to wherever he could be bothered to go.

La Perle thought he was off to the big apple, probably contemplating how he would have to buy the Mrs a gift or two from Macey's or maybe even find the time to take in a show on Broadway. However it was only when security guards stopped him was he reminded he was supposed to on his way to the motor city - Detroit.

The guard said: 'La Perle's face was a picture when he realised his mistake. He must have promised his wife a new bag or something and it soon dawned on him he wasn't going to find it in war torn Detroit!'

La Perle has been jailed after admitting to holding the keys to a 747, while under the influence and about to start her up. He was jailed for 6 months.
