PUERTO PUNTA, Costa Rica - As if Spencer Pratt hasn't already had enough controversy in his career. Now comes word that he was arrested at The Salsa Picante Airport in the Pacific coastal town of Puerto Punta, Costa Rica.
Pratt had gone to the jungles of Costa Rica to participate in a self-induced survival course to help him get back his manly self-esteem.
The man who was once married to Heidi "Plastic Woman" Montag said that he survived for nine days in the mosquito-infested jungles by eating cricket legs, spider larva, and dung beetle cheeks.
Spencer noted that he made his clothes out of leaves and tree bark. He fashioned a pair of shoes from two cans of El Conquistador Cerveza (beer) that he had found washed up on the beach.
After leaving the island Pratt headed to The Salsa Picante Airport to board a plane back to California. But as he was going through security he set the alarm off.
Airport security guards noticed that he had four bunches of counterfeit bananas stuffed in one of his suitcases.
He was immediately handcuffed, read his rights, and taken downtown to the central police station.
In Costa Rica trying to smuggle counterfeit bananas out of the country is tantamount to trying to smuggle cocaine into the United States.
[EDITOR'S NOTE: The last American who tried to smuggle counterfeit bananas out of Costa Rica is Horace Zackenpacker. He tried to smuggle out three bunches and has been sitting in a Costa Rican jail for ten months. But of course Horace is not a famous celebrity. Zackenpacker is merely a fry cook at a local KFC in Dodge City, Kansas.]
