image for Coup d'etat in Antarctica
The UN doesn't know what to do with the coup d'etat in Antarcticatica

In a real life James Bond Adventure a well-equipped and heavily armed group landed on a giant iceberg, which recently broke away from Antarctica, and declared that the iceberg was now the sovereign nation of Iceonia.

The local population of Penguins and seals put up little resistance.

Satellite photos of the invaders shows modular buildings have already been assembled and that numerous cold whether vehicles are working on more construction projects.

A Russian Antonov 225, the world's largest cargo plane, was also seen parked on the ice runway.

The satellite photo of the area from 72 hours earlier shows nothing.

Visibility was poor until today when the frigid clear sky returned and the activity was visible.

Also reported was similar but smaller activity on the other end of the iceberg.

The Revolutionary Guard of Iceonia, as they call themselves, is unknown by any news agency or in the diplomatic community.

The iceberg seized in the 'coup' was part of Antarctica and thus under international community jurisdiction.

While there are some United Nations agreements on the use of Antarctica there is no enforcement power or capability.

What will be done with the loonies of Iceonia is unclear but today the iceberg is the size of Luxembourg and in two years it will melt to the size of the Vatican City and then a Vatican postage stamp.
