Administration officials reacted today to reports that the Department of Energy's efforts to provide jobs and weatherize 523,000 homes was a complete failure and ultimate waste of taxpayer money.
Press Secretary Robert Gibbs, appearing in a North Face parka to combat White House Drafts, said that while the project was slow to get off the ground, it was 'heating up' and more friends of the President were benefitting.
According to the Government Accounting Office (GAO), only 9,000 homes had been 'weatherized" under the leadership of Steven Chu, yet another Nobel Peace Prize winner educated at USC BERKELEY, noted for it's hot bed of liberals. Chu won the Prize, surprise, for "COOLING OF THE ATOM" which obviously made him a preeminent expert on caulking, thermo pane windows and insulation.
The GAO also highlighted the inadvertent weatherizing of George Obama's hut in Kenya at a cost of only $57,362, the average cost of reported conversions in the US. The GAO sited the government law that all weatherization workers be paid the 'prevailing wage' under the Davis Bacon Act, a clause that insured Union Workers would get the job, due less work for more money and not be responsible for warrantee claims.
According to the report, workers in Kenya make approximately $.23 a day collecting cans and pop bottles, but when weatherstripping were paid approximately $78.50 US an hour depending on whether they were using a caulking gun or just reloading one.
George's tar paper and pressed beer can shack had one window and a curtain for a door and comprised approximately 120 square feet of unheated and un air conditioned space. According to the local building department which oversaw the renovation, construction took 6 months and 3 days, and now George has one air tight fiberglass insulated door, and one 3x3 insulated hurricane proof window. According to the invoice, over 3,000 cases of caulk were also applied around the sill on the dirt floor to keep out drafts, scorpions, fire ants, and the occational Black Mamba snakes that frequent the garabage infested area.
Reports have surfaced that Kenyan President Mwal Kibaki, who stole the last election, is the silent owner of the weatherization company listed as
Meanwhile the GAO also pointed out the weatherization for Obama's Kenyan aunt Zeituni Onyango who has been ensconced in a Roxbury Massachusetts housing project even though she was supposed to be deported 4 years ago.
Itemized statements surfacing while she is awaiting yet another hearing, indicated that in addition to a 5 ton state of the art heating and cooling system for the apartment, the installation of a walk in freezer where she keeps road kill for resale, and a handicapped lift, have cost Mass. taxpayers over $276,000.34 not including her free cell phone, health care, attorneys' fees and the additional rent on her open air butcher shop.
Gibbs defended the Presidents initiative saying, "We fully expect that we will have achieved the President's goal of spending $3.5B by the first of November 2010 just prior to the mid term election. We know the American Taxpayers will want to thank the President personnaly for his 'gifts' ensuring their children will be toasty warm this coming winter. "
"Remember, Vote Democratic!"
