Hamelin (Hameln), Germany: The Rat Meat Processors Association spokesman, Herr Pied Piper has defended the actions of Gino D'Acampo, the winner of I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!, and fellow contestant Stuart Manning, who are both facing animal cruelty charges after cooking and eating a rat on the programme.
In 1284, while the town of Hamelin was suffering from a rat infestation, one of Herr Pied Piper's past family members was a rat-catcher, who promised and solved the Hamelin problem with a rat infestation. Today Hamelin, is the worldwide headquarters of the Rat Meat Processors Association.
Herr Pied Piper stated at a news conference in Hamelin, Germany, "The ITV show, I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!, should be commended as enlightening the worldwide audience to the benefits of cooking and eating rat meat!"
"Lives are being lost in the world due to starvation, whilst there is in fact a plentiful supply of rat meat everywhere, that could be used to give people the nutritional support they need!"
Herr Pied Piper continued, "Instead of the RSPCA in New South Wales and the Police from Murwillumbah issuing court attendance notices to two men aged 30 and 33 for the offence of animal cruelty. They should be congratulated in catching and eating the rat meat and demystifying the rat meat trade."
This little understood trade in rat meat, has been kept from the public domain for some time. The Rat Meat Processors Association were able to give details of rat mince and rat burgers that were being sold worldwide under another label, so at not to alarm the general public.
"Rat meat is here to stay and is a growing international business!", said Herr Pied Piper. "I'm having rat meat roast today, served with roast potatoes, vegetables and gravy!!"
Herr Pied Piper added, "As we say in the rat meat trade, 'Rat meat roast, it looks tasty, smells and tastes delicious!!"
